2010s Decade in Review

As we all know the decade is coming to an end. This decade started in 2010 and is finishing in 2019. We lost some amazing people at this time, but before they passed they left an imprint on us all. Cameron Boyce, Juice Wrld, Mac Miller, XXXTentacion, Lil Peep, Avicii, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Paul Walker, Christopher Lee, Stephen Hawkings, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Stan Lee, Christine Grime, and Luke Perry. These wonderful people all left a lasting, positive imprint for us to witness whether it was through music, acting, writing or athletic competition. Let’s keep all these wonderful souls in mind.

The economy started recovering after the Great Recession, with it stemming from the September 11th attacks. The United States had a lower unemployment rate then we did in the years before 2010. The world had just seen the start of ISIS. We had an amazing violent rate decrease. On the flip side, the world did have a few hardships. We had the earthquakes in Haiti in 2010, the terror attacks in Paris in 2015 and the devastating Japanese tsunami of 2011. The series of snowstorms, “Snowmageddon”- named by President Obama, had hit the east coast with 40 inches in less than one week.

On the upbeat side, the world got to experience fidget spinners that had become popular in 2017. Ubers became another way to get to place from place. Social media sites such as Vine, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok became more popular. The dress (blue and black) or (white and gold) was a big deal in 2015.

In summary, this decade had contained some good and bad moments. The 2010s have certainly been a wonderful decade, and we hope that 2020 will be the same but better. Cheers to the new decade
